The Keeper
Let me give you something to think about
we’re born into a dark and dreary castle
there is a keeper of that castle with clout
If you go about your business in the castle
he gives you no hassle
some people sit around all day
and others work for their pay
some aspire to be the best
better than the rest
others in the castle go to school
so they’re not a castle dwelling fool
the keeper does not bother them at all
they never stop and stall
and say there is something better, more fulfilling beyond these castle walls
and they roam the castle malls
they occupy their time
they spend their castle dime
they play their castle sports
they visit their castle ports
they make families to continue the castle life
some even divorce and marry a new husband and take a new castle wife
and on and on and on they dwell in the castle life
they’re caught
their souls have been bought
and the keeper doesn’t bother them
doesn’t give them a thought or a whim
because he knows them he owns
he owns their soul their flesh their bones
and they look at each other these castle dwellers
these castle merchants, buyers and sellers
and they look at each other and say we are normal castle dwellers
and we are proud
and we are part of the castle crowd
but there are others in the castle
who say this castle is emptiness
and they know they can not be fulfilled in the castle
and they start looking around
and they want to leave the castle mess
and they look around
and they say of this castle life i can eat and drink of it all day
and it cannot fulfill me in any way
and they search the castle ground
the keeper senses it like a hound
and the dweller keeps searching for what is true
he knows it is something he must do
and the keeper goes after him
the keeper sends more temptation his way
anything to make the dweller stay
now the keeper of the castle is after him
now the keeper will hassle him
now the game has begun
because here comes the fun
the keeper sends more women his way
jobs with better pay, better games to play
anything to make him stay
the keeper will use anything, anything at all
to make him stall
now this guy can jump in
to this enhanced passionate sin
or he can say i have tasted this before
it’s all the same just more
it is still emptiness
no less
and again he walks away
and he shouts it cannot fulfill me in anyway
and it frustrates the keeper
because this guy cannot be bought and he may awaken everyone who is a castle dwelling sleeper
the guy keeps searching he bypasses everything in the castle
he walks by it with no hassle
he is now strong
his neighbors and friends think he has gone wrong
but he has found something
he has found a way out
and to it his soul does sing
he has found the right route
he is going to open it and he can’t wait
he stands in its doorway
he knows outside is right
and the castle is wrong
he has found the true light
and the keeper is yelling “come back, come back”, he is yelling it strong
and the guy leaves behind what he can see, what he can hear
he walks out to the light
that is right, with no fear
he has left the castle behind
for the true find
where there is peace that does not cease.
